À l’occasion de la 80ème session de l’Assemblée générale des Nations Unies à New York, le président congolais Félix Tshisekedi a une fois de plus dénoncé l’exploitation illicite des minerais à l’Est de la République Démocratique du Congo, l’un des foyers persistants de la crise sécuritaire que traverse le pays.
Dans son discours, le Chef de l’État a interpellé la communauté internationale sur la nécessité urgente d’assurer la traçabilité des minerais congolais, afin de couper court aux circuits mafieux qui alimentent les groupes armés et prolongent l’instabilité.
Présent dans la délégation congolaise à New York, l’économiste, lobbyiste et stratège en investissement Patrick Ntambwe Onoya a salué la clarté du message présidentiel. Il a réitéré l’appel lancé par Félix Tshisekedi, exhortant l’ONU, l’Union africaine ainsi que les pays voisins de la RDC à s’engager activement dans une coopération multilatérale pour mettre fin à cette exploitation illégale.
« La paix et le développement en République démocratique du Congo passent par une gestion transparente et sécurisée de nos ressources naturelles. C’est le combat que nous devons mener ensemble, avec détermination », a déclaré le professeur Onoya à New York.
Ce message, porté sur la scène mondiale, vise à replacer la RDC au cœur des débats stratégiques sur la gouvernance des ressources naturelles et à rappeler que l’avenir du pays, comme celui de la région des Grands Lacs, dépend de la fin de cette économie de guerre nourrie par les minerais de sang.
