« Je suis dévasté. Je considérais Ngũgĩ comme un Dieu », confie-t-il avec gravité. Il se remémore son admiration partagée avec son mentor Bienvenu Séné Mongaba, aujourd’hui décédé, et leur rêve de croiser un jour le grand écrivain kényan.
Ce rêve devient réalité en 2017. Après la parution de son roman Ebamba, Kinshasa Makambo, traduit en anglais par le titre » Mr Fix it », lequel Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o accepte d’en devenir le parrain. « C’était comme un enfant qui rêve de jouer avec Messi… et Messi accepte. » Un moment inoubliable pour l’auteur congolais.
