Le président de la communauté congolaise en Ouganda, Williams Bugeme, vient de boucler une mission stratégique à Kinshasa. Objectif : plaider en faveur des plus de 50 000 réfugiés congolais ayant fui les violences du M23 depuis janvier et renforcer les liens avec la mère patrie.
Durant son séjour, Williams Bugeme, accompagné d’une délégation de la diaspora en Ouganda, a multiplié les rencontres avec les autorités, notamment la ministre des Affaires étrangères et le Secrétaire général aux affaires étrangères. Son message était clair : il faut un appui urgent et concret pour sauver des vies.
« Si ces réfugiés ne sont pas accompagnés et soutenus comme il se doit, il y a un réel risque qu’ils sombrent dans le désespoir », a-t-il averti avec insistance.
Au-delà de l’aspect humanitaire, Williams Bugeme s’est également battu pour la réconciliation et la cohésion de la diaspora congolaise en Ouganda, dénonçant la rupture entre l’ambassade congolaise et la communauté locale. Il a invité les autorités à retisser des liens solides avec leurs compatriotes de l’extérieur pour bâtir une diaspora unie, solidaire et capable de soutenir la RDC dans ses défis.
« Que le président de la République et toute la population à Kinshasa ne nous abandonnent pas. Nous devons aimer la RDC et nous unir face aux ennemis. Le Congo, c’est notre pays et nous devons tout faire pour lui », a-t-il martelé.
De retour à Kampala, Williams Bugeme a poursuivi son action de terrain. Lors d’une grande rencontre à Sharing Hall, Nsambya, il a personnellement distribué des vivres et des produits de première nécessité aux réfugiés, tout en réaffirmant son engagement à rechercher de nouveaux partenaires et davantage de ressources pour répondre aux besoins croissants de cette communauté éprouvée.
Son combat continue : la voix des réfugiés congolais en Ouganda ne demande qu’à être entendue.
