Samedi 5 juin 2025, lors d’une conférence-débat organisée par la Fondation Armand Miteyo sous le thème général « Génération Bâtisseurs : la jeunesse congolaise redéfinit l’avenir économique », le Professeur Patrick Onoya a lancé un appel vibrant à la jeunesse congolaise. Dans la salle Poste, à la Gombe, il a interpellé les jeunes sur leur rôle dans le nouveau partenariat américano-congolais.
Pour le Professeur Onoya, l’histoire rappelle que ce sont des jeunes qui ont arraché la liberté pendant l’époque coloniale.
« La jeunesse consciente a été à l’origine de l’indépendance de ce pays. Tous les pères de l’indépendance avaient entre 25 et 35 ans. Tout repose donc sur la jeunesse », a-t-il souligné.
« La jeunesse d’aujourd’hui doit sortir de l’abrutissement »
Il a déploré le phénomène d’abrutissement et de démobilisation qui semble gagner une partie de la jeunesse actuelle.
« À 25 ans, on pense souvent qu’on ne peut rien accomplir. Pourtant, Lumumba, Kasa-Vubu et Iléo avaient entre 25 et 30 ans. Ils savaient que l’avenir du pays dépendait d’eux. Si aujourd’hui, vous pensez que l’avenir de la RDC ne vous concerne pas, il est temps de se lever et de rejoindre la génération des bâtisseurs », a-t-il martelé.
Le professeur Onoya a rappelé que les jeunes représentent entre 65 % et 75 % de la population congolaise. Une force démographique qui, selon lui, doit peser dans les décisions politiques et économiques du pays.
« Si la majorité est jeune, c’est à elle d’imposer son point de vue. Si elle ne le fait pas, c’est qu’il y a un problème. Chacun doit se poser cette question : suis-je partie du problème ou de la solution ? »
Une jeunesse consciente et exigeante
Il a exhorté les jeunes à devenir des acteurs engagés et vigilants :
« La jeunesse consciente, c’est celle qui agit. Si vous ne faites rien, alors rien ne changera. Cette majorité ne parvient pas à influencer le cours des choses, c’est inquiétant. »
Face à la méfiance envers les dirigeants, il a encouragé la jeunesse à surveiller la mise en œuvre des engagements publics.
« La jeunesse doit rester aux aguets jusqu’à la concrétisation des promesses. Les autorités doivent comprendre qu’on ne peut plus gouverner comme avant. La jeunesse doit être impliquée dans les décisions qui concernent son avenir. »
Une stratégie numérique pour la paix avec le Rwanda
Abordant la question sécuritaire entre la RDC et le Rwanda, le Professeur Onoya a proposé une stratégie innovante de pression diplomatique à travers les réseaux sociaux.
« Voici ce que je propose : Donald Trump est l’homme qui peut attirer l’attention sur cette guerre. Pendant trente jours, chaque jour, nous devons le taguer sur Twitter et Facebook pour lui demander ce qu’il compte faire pour obtenir le retrait immédiat de l’armée rwandaise du sol congolais. Il sera obligé de réagir. »
Il a appelé à une mobilisation numérique massive :
« Pouvons-nous constituer une équipe de 1 000 jeunes qui, ensemble, tagueront chaque jour le président américain ? Nous devons lui rappeler l’urgence d’un accord de paix entre la RDC et le Rwanda. »
Avec ce plaidoyer énergique, le professeur Patrick Onoya entend réveiller une jeunesse congolaise encore trop souvent silencieuse, en lui redonnant le pouvoir d’agir et d’influencer le destin de son pays.
