Vendredi 9 mai dernier, lors de la réunion ordinaire du Conseil des ministres, le ministre des Mines, Kizito Pakabomba, a présenté le projet d’exploitation de manganèse dans le territoire de Luozi, province du Kongo-Central. Ce projet sera porté par la société japonaise Asia Mineral Limited.
« Le choix porté sur cette firme japonaise repose sur son expertise avérée et incontestable dans l’exploitation, la transformation et la commercialisation de ce minerai stratégique. Elle figure parmi les plus grands acteurs mondiaux du secteur, se positionnant comme le septième exportateur de manganèse au niveau international », a expliqué le ministre dans son intervention.
Par la même occasion, il a annoncé le lancement de la phase exploratoire, prévue pour le 21 mai de l’année en cours.
Le ministre a également précisé que l’investissement global envisagé permettra d’atteindre une production annuelle projetée de deux millions de tonnes.
Ce vaste projet d’exploitation s’inscrit pleinement dans la nouvelle vision de la gouvernance minière. Il représente un puissant levier de transformation territoriale, sectorielle et économique pour la République démocratique du Congo.
