Les Léopards séniors messieurs Basketball de la République Démocratique du Congo sont déclarés, depuis quelques jours, forfaits au tournoi de pré-qualification olympique qui démarre ce lundi 14 août au Nigeria, précisément à Lagos.
Selon des sources proches de la Fédération de basket ball du Congo (FEBACO), l’absence de ces basketteurs au à ce tournoi international est due au manque d’appui financier du gouvernement.
En effet, cette compétition de balle a panier se déroulera du lundi 14 au samedi 20 août prochain.
Dans cette compétition, les Léopards basket ball étaient logés dans le groupe B avec les Lions Indomptables du Cameroun, les Sili national de la Guinée et les Aigles du Carthage de la Tunisie.
Au total, huit pays africains prennent part à ce grand rendez-vous sportif. Ensuite, les équipes d’un même groupe s’affronteront selon un format « round robin ».
Signalons que, l’équipe qui terminera à la première place du groupe A sera opposée à l’équipe occupant la seconde place du groupe B dans les demi-finales.
Il sied de noter que, les deux équipes qui gagneront les demi-finales se qualifieront pour la finale et l’équipe championne de ce tournoi décrochera son ticket pour les tournois de qualification olympique FIBA de 2024, prévus à Paris.
